The Air Canada Foundation has raised a record breaking C$1.5 million during its 14th annual charity golf tournament, marking its most successful fundraising event to date. The milestone also brings the Foundation’s total fundraising to more than C$20 million since the events began in 2012.

More than C$20 million raised since launch

Held in support of children’s health and wellbeing, this year’s tournament attracted airline partners, suppliers and supporters, with funds set to benefit organisations that help young people across Canada.

The Air Canada Foundation said the latest event surpassed all previous fundraising totals, highlighting continued support for its charitable initiatives and long term community programmes.

Michael Rousseau, president and chief executive officer of Air Canada, said the achievement reflected the commitment of those involved:

“Since 2012, the Foundation has raised $20 million raised for children across the country, an important accomplishment and I speak on behalf of everyone at Air Canada when I say this: thank you to every single person who has donated in the past 14 years. Thank you for sharing our mission and thank you for making a difference.”

Supporting communities beyond aviation

The annual golf tournament which this year was held at Club de golf Le Mirage in Terrebonne, Québec, has become one of the Foundation’s main fundraising events, with this year’s record contribution pushing the total amount raised beyond C$20 million.

The tournament was hosted and organised by Air Canada employees, retirees and volunteers, with multiple foundations onsite to help advocate for the important causes. According to the foundation, proceeds support charities that focus on improving the health and wellbeing of children and young people, as well as programmes that help families facing medical challenges.
