Malta Air has announced the launching of flights to Asia, with a new route to Tel Aviv Bel Gurion, beginning from 26th May. It will be the first route outside of Europe for the Maltese airline, which operate separately to the similarly named Air Malta.
Why has this expansion happened?
The airline has decided to expand to the worldwide largest continent due wanting to boost tourism from Israel to the small Mediterranean island nation. The route will operate twice weekly on Wednesdays and Sundays using A320-200Ns and aim to trial run the route for popularity. If successful, Malta Air will add additional services to the route according to demand.
This also comes after Malta Air have already expanded services to their high demand European destinations, adding an extra Thursday service to London Gatwick and an extra Tuesday service to Brussels South Charleroi.
Why is flying to Tel Aviv significant for the airline?
Malta Air wants to open up more seats continentally across their now 19 routes in total, with over 8,000 flights, selling 1.2million seats. Executive Chairman of Malta Airlines- David Curmi-

Malta Air state that they plan to continue adding more routes to Asia dependable on cost and demand for tourists.
