Discover Airlines has made plans to retrofit their long haul A330 cabins in a huge investment. The German airline is a subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group and is committed to retrofitting its fleet of A330s by 2028.

Long Haul Fleet

Discover Airlines A330 fleet consists of 16 aircraft, with each of them getting the retrofit cabins treatment. The airline, based in Frankfurt International Airport (FRA), shares connections with the Lufthansa Group, and has called this the “largest” investment in the company’s history since the airline was founded in July 2021. The announcement by Discover Airlines CEO Ulrich Lindner gave an approximate figure:

“Five years after our founding, we are investing a three-digit million euro sum specifically in comfort, quality, and the travel experience of our guests.”

Discover Airlines also makes extensive use of long-haul routes, especially A330s, for long-haul leisure routes from Frankfurt to places like North America, Africa and the Caribbean.

What will the retrofit include?

The retrofit will include new ‘ocean blue’ seats for all cabins, 227 in Economy Class, 31 in Premium Economy and 30 in Business Class, bringing the total count to 288 seats. Not only do the cabins come with a visual upgrade thanks to the ‘ocean blue’ seating plan, but some other technological advancements as well, including 4k touch screen monitors, and are provided with Wifi services from Starlink. Lindner said:

“We are proud of what we have achieved and look forward to welcoming our guests to the new ‘Ocean Blue’ cabin soon”

The first newly retrofitted aircraft is scheduled to fly in April 2027.
