Air India has announced a strategic multi-year agreement with Boeing Global Services (BGS) for its Component Services Program (CSP), covering the airline’s entire Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet, including aircraft currently in service and those on order. The agreement was signed on the sidelines of Wings India 2026 in Hyderabad, underscoring Air India’s accelerating transformation into a globally competitive full-service carrier.

A comprehensive support ecosystem

Designed to support the airline’s rapidly expanding long-haul network, the CSP delivers end-to-end component management, ensuring high availability, faster turnaround times, and predictable maintenance costs across Air India’s growing Dreamliner operations.

Under the agreement, Boeing Global Services will provide:

  1. Component pooling, providing immediate access to a broad pool of serviceable 787 components, enabling rapid replacement of line-replaceable units to reduce turnaround time
  2. Repair, overhaul, and modification, providing expert handling of returned components through Boeing-approved facilities and partners, ensuring quality repairs and upgrades to maintain fleet performance
  3. Logistics services to help with efficient worldwide transportation and delivery of parts, supported by Boeing’s infrastructure for in-time availability

This pooled approach allows Air India to optimise inventory costs while maintaining the high dispatch reliability required for long-haul operations.

Chief Technical Officer, Air India Sisira Kanta Dash said:

”As Air India transforms into a globally competitive full-service carrier, dependable component support is vital to sustaining high operational standards across our expanding Boeing 787 operations. This agreement with Boeing Global Services strengthens our long-standing partnership and provides integrated solutions needed to deliver greater fleet efficiency, reduced downtime, and consistent service excellence to our passengers”.

The collaboration builds on Air India’s broader fleet modernization strategy, which includes the recent induction of its first line-fit Boeing 787-9, additional 787-9 deliveries planned throughout 2026, and the cabin retrofit of 26 legacy 787-8 aircraft.

Global scale, local impact

Senior Vice President, Parts & Distribution and Supply Chain, Boeing Global Services William Ampofo said:

The 787 Component Services Program is one of Boeing Global Services’ core solutions, designed to optimize component availability and provide operators with scalable, reliable support. This long-term partnership with Air India deepens our commitment to enabling cost-effective, resilient operations for their Dreamliner fleet, backed by our global parts and repair network to deliver the uptime and cost predictability their operations require.”

With the Dreamliner playing a central role in Air India’s long-haul ambitions, the CSP agreement marks a critical enabler of the airline’s next growth phase—supporting higher aircraft utilization, improved on-time performance, and a more seamless passenger experience across international routes.

As Air India continues its historic reinvention, the partnership with Boeing Global Services positions the carrier to scale confidently, efficiently, and reliably on the world stage.
