How was the transfer celebrated?

The national carrier of Sri Lanka have now began flying from Male Velana International Airport Terminal 1, now the biggest airport terminal in the Maldives. They currently operate three flights daily to Male from Colombo, Sri Lanka’s biggest city and international hub, connecting passengers to the Maldivian capital from around the world.

The Maldives Airport Company celebrated  by welcoming passengers from Colombo, on SriLankan Airlines flight UL101 and also those on the returning flight- UL102. This will continue to increase footfall for not only the Maldives and Sri Lanka, but to the rest of the world, via Colombo.

What comes next?

Male Valana Airport’s new terminal aims to optimise passenger comfort and convenience, as well as make the process from check-in to boarding a lot smoother. SriLankan Airlines now have new check-in and Information desks in the terminal, ensuring a smooth transition for passengers who frequently flew from Terminal 2.

SriLankan Airlines hope that this move will increase tourism and travel, as well as ensuring optimum customer quality.

What do you think about SriLankan Airlines Operational Move? Will this boost tourism between the two nations?
