Business jet crashes while landing at US airport

Multiple death reported in a plane crash near Statesville, North Carolina, as rescue crews rushed to the site. The incident took place while landing at Statesville Regional Airport around 10:15 local time (15:15 GMT) on Thursday.

The Statesville plane crash

The plane that crashed was a Cessna C550. The registration information for the plane is for NASCAR driver Greg Biffle, but it is unclear whether he was aboard the aircraft when it crashed.

Regarding the crash, Statesville Regional Airport said, “We can confirm there has been an aircraft incident at the Statesville Regional Airport. At approximately 10:15 am local time, an aircraft crashed while landing. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is en route and will investigate the incident.”

“A Cessna C550 crashed while landing at Statesville Regional Airport in North Carolina around 10:20 a.m. local time on Thursday, Dec. 18. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate. The NTSB will lead the investigation and provide any updates,” a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) spokesperson told the media.

The details of the air crash are still under investigation and yet to be disclosed.
