Footage uploaded onto X after the incident shows the crashed plane in between lanes on Route 195 earlier today. The plane can be seen on fire amid heavy rain in videos uploaded by those passing by in cars. Smoke could be seen coming from the site. There is no information available about the identity of the passenger or pilot.

Reports show one person on the ground was also injured and taken to hospital, with aerial photographs of the scene showing a burnt and dented car in the median of the road.

The crash site

Dartmouth’s I-195 is closed in both directions in order to secure the scene. The crash occurred near Exit 19, amid heavy winds and rain.

It is believed that the plane may have been on route to New Bedford Regional Airport, which is roughly 30 minutes flight time away from the crash site. Massachusetts state police say the pilot had not provided information on the number of souls onboard, or their flight plan. The FAA is to investigate the crash.

The cause of the crash is still unknown.
