The Cathay Group is strengthening its connections with mainland China by introducing a daily, non-stop route from Hong Kong and Changsha, capital of China’s Hunan province in Central China.

Cathay Pacific: Dedicated to Connecting Hong Kong and the Mainland
The introduction of its Changsha service marks Cathay Pacific’s fifth mainland Chinese destination added by the Cathay Group in 2025, increasing the total number of mainland Chinese destinations served by the Cathay Group through its airlines, Cathay Pacific and HK Express, to 24. This year, the Cathay Group has announced the launch of 21 new destinations across its network. Cathay Pacific launched services to Urumqi in April, and HK Express launched flights to Changzhou and Yiwu in May, as well as services to Giuyang in July.
Cathay CEO Ronald Lam had the following to say on the introduction of the new route:
“We are excited to introduce non-stop flights between Hong Kong and Changsha, establishing an important bridge that fosters trade and cultural exchange between Hunan and the rest of the world via our Hong Kong hub. With Changsha as our 24th destination in the Chinese Mainland, we are doubling down on our promise of greater choice, convenience and connectivity for our customers. We look forward to welcoming even more travellers aboard and helping spark new journeys in travel, trade and tourism.”
Cathay Pacific’s Hong Kong-Changsha service will operate using the Airbus A321neo aircraft, which features Business and Economy cabins, as well as an award-winning inflight entertainment experience.
