New managing director

Frank Haberkamp will be taking over from Rainer Becker as managing director of MTU Maintenance in Serbia, effective Sep. 1, 2025. Becker has been with the company in Serbia for a very long time, since the project phase, and will return to MTU Maintenance’s parent company, MTU Aero Engines, in Munich in 2026. The maintenance facility in Serbia began operation in 2022 and is a component repair facility that focuses on high-value engine parts for large-volume engine programs such as CF34, CF6, V2500, GE90, and CFM56, including aero-derivative LM2500 and LM6000 industrial gas turbines.

Haberkamp brings several years of experience to his new role, as he has been with MTU Maintenance for over 18 years, working in different roles in sales and program organisation and as the vice president of repair services, responsible for the group’s parts and accessory program worldwide. In his new role, Haberkamp will focus on continued growth of the site in Serbia to a staff of over 500 specialists, and he will work to achieve the company’s target of reaching 470,000 repair hours per year.

MTU Maintenance has approvals from five aviation authorities, some of which include the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). It is a key player in MTU’s global repair network, conducting repairs on fan blades, cases, low-pressure compressor airfoils, and static parts, including composite repairs and painting.

To help its employees in their future endeavours, MTU has developed its aviation academic centre in the facility in Belgrade, Serbia, along with the Serbian Ministry of Education. With this, employees in MTU Maintenance Serbia will be able to develop their professional skills.
