IndiGo has introduced several strategic developments on its way to becoming a global airline. Following the recent Happy IndiGo Day Sale initiated by the airline in early August, the airline will be receiving five additional Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft in the current financial year, allowing it to launch new international routes.

Direct flights to London Heathrow
IndiGo has introduced direct daily flights to London Heathrow, commencing October 26, 2025, subject to regulatory approvals. The aircraft that will be used to operate this route is the airline’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. IndiGo will be receiving five additional Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner planes this year under its damp-lease agreement with Norse Atlantic Airways, which will strengthen its current long-haul network and open the way for new international destinations.
The airline also updated some of its products on selected international routes. It is now offering its tailor-made business product, IndiGoStretch, on flights connecting Singapore to Delhi and Mumbai, operated by its A321 aircraft, which commenced on August 9, 2025. The airline also intends to launch IndiGoStretch on flights between Delhi and Dubai, commencing August 30, 2025. This also includes flights connecting Mumbai and Dubai on September 3, 2025.

Recent achievements
IndiGo has been named the Cleanest Airline in India & South Asia by Skytrax at the World Airline Awards 2025 and was recently recognised as the Best Airline in India and South Asia.
The airline has established itself as one of India’s largest and most used airlines in a period of 19 years, with over 400 aircraft operating in 90 domestic destinations and over 40 international destinations. IndiGo recently increased flight frequencies between its routes connecting Mumbai with Manchester and Amsterdam.
In June, the airline signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Delta Air Lines, Air France-KLM, and Virgin Atlantic, an industry-leading partnership connecting India with Europe and North America. IndiGo entered a codeshare agreement with Jetstar to further strengthen its network, offering one-stop connectivity to 14 destinations across Australia and New Zealand. Evidently, IndiGo has taken several initiatives in its journey to becoming a key player in the aviation industry. Pieter Elbers, chief executive officer at IndiGo, said:
“As we celebrate IndiGo’s 19th anniversary, we are immensely proud of the journey we have had so far and equally excited about the way ahead.”
In an announcement, IndiGo converted 30 aircraft of its 70 Airbus A350 aircraft into a firm order, which brought its wide-body aircraft order to a total of 60. The airline stated its plans to start operating in Copenhagen, Athens, and Siem Reap. IndiGo also added Adampur (Jalandhar, Punjab) and Hindon (Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh) to its list of airports. Besides its route development, IndiGo signed an MoU with Bangalore International Airport (BIAL) for the development of a maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) infrastructure to support the airline’s fleet.
