Air Hong Kong, the first all-cargo air freighter and a part of the Cathay group based in Hong Kong International Airport, has completed its process of fleet renewal, and as its last A300-600F freighter retired, it is now an all-Airbus A330F freighter airline, ready to start its new chapter.

Air Hong Kong: New Chapter Awaits with Renewed Fleet

Starting their service in 2005, the carrier has worked closely with DHL Express to provide express cargo services between Hong Kong and 17 destinations in Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Australia.

This year, the airline announced completion of its re-fleeting programme, which took a total of 7 years. The fleet now consists of 14 Airbus A330F aircraft.

The new A330F would be able to fly longer distances, carrying 25% more volume of cargo, positively boosting cargo throughput at the Hong Kong International Airport.

Air Hong Kong Chief Operating Officer Clarence Tai, sees this moment as an exciting beginning of a new chapter:

“The A300-600F has been a stalwart of Air Hong Kong’s fleet and an important part of our story for over two decades. Its contribution to not only our business, but to the Hong Kong international aviation hub as a whole, has been considerable and we fondly bid farewell to this valued member of our fleet as we enter this exciting new chapter. The new-generation A330F brings with it considerable benefits that will enable us to further enhance our operations and services for our customers, and continue to play an important role in the ongoing growth of Hong Kong’s air cargo sector.”

Cathay Pacific Group: Continuous Expansion

Besides bettering their air freight business, other members of the Cathay Pacific Airways group have also seen rigorous improvement and strategic expansion. And these efforts never go unnoticed, with the group being awarded one of the top global airlines of 2025.

Aligning with the Hong Kong International Airport awarded as the world’s busiest cargo airport, the Cathay Group has also invested HKD$100 billion in bettering the airport’s facilities, in light of the new plans for utilising the newly built 3-runway system.
