Founded by four airlines in 2000, SkyTeam is celebrating 25 year of international collaboration across the skies. Today, the global alliance consists of 18 members and connects 245 destinations across 145 countries.

SkyTeam Is One Of The Leading Global Alliances

With a combined 235 million loyalty program members, customers have remained at the heart of the company since its founding. In its quarter of a century alliance SkyTeam have provided their customers with tools to simplify their travel journeys including launching seamless check-in’s, developing award-winning tools, and leading the industry in standardised priority boarding services.

They remain at the forefront of the aviation industry launching multiple programs that address sustainability, gender inequality, and recently they became the first alliance to issue an Anti-Human Trafficking Declaration. Chairman of SkyTeam Andres Conesa reflected on SkyTeam’s success stating:

“SkyTeam’s success lies in the strength of its partnerships and a shared vision to put the customer at the centre of the travel experience”

SkyTeams Role in Aviation Innovation

SkyTeam has become one of the most influential airline alliances across the globe with goals to create a more integrated and seamless travel experience that provides customers with access to a network of flights spanning Asia, Europe, North America, and beyond.

As global leader in sustainable aviation investments, the global alliance has aligned themselves with multiple campaigns including the Aviation Challenge, IATA’s 25by2025 campaign, and taking a unified stance against global crime with their Anti-Human Trafficking Declaration.

A New Chapter for SkyTeam

As the company look towards the future of aviation they have a focus on digital transformations and accelerating sustainability efforts across networks. With SAS and Virgin Atlantic recently joining the alliance, SkyTeam are moving towards the future of shared technology. Their upcoming goals include enabling intermodal travel through partnerships with Eurostar and Trenitalia and furthering digital capabilities such as baggage tracking and integrated loyalty experiences.
