Avianca Cargo Appoints New CEO Diogo Elias

Avianca Cargo, an air cargo airline, has a newly appointed CEO Diogo Elias who will be stepping into his new role from 1 May. The newly appointed CEO is said to be leading the fleet expansion plans, diversifying the airlines’ route network, and working on development of new markets.

A bright future ahead

In the last two years, while being the Senior Vice President of Avianca Cargo, Diogo Elias’ management earned the cargo airline some recognition in the industry. The cargo airline was in the top 20 cargo airlines in the world in 2023 according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Elias’ leadership and management of the cargo airline has led to an expansion of the network, growth in strategic markets with a milestone number of connections to US destinations such as Miami, and united a consistent service portfolio. The new CEO brings over 20 years of experience in commercial, leadership, and strategic roles, as well as an academic background in business, and operations management.

Now with a new CEO in place, Avianca Cargo will continuing to focus on their operational excellence and execution of high standards that have previously earned them their recognition. Announcing his new position on LinkedIn, Diogo Elias will be leading their growth strategy that will focus on strengthening and innovating its operations, while also working towards becoming one of the leading air cargo providers.

About Avianca Cargo

Avianca Cargo is an air cargo airline and is one of the main operators in different markets in the Americas, with around 220 cargo flights and more than 1,400 passenger flights. It serves more than 70 destinations in Latin America, United States and Europe, while also having a further 70 interline agreements which connect the airline to over 350 destinations worldwide and transporting cargo with the lowest environmental impact. Having recently received the ESG Award from the Aviation Achievement Awards, the airline is slowly but surely climbing the ranks as the top cargo airline in the Americas.
