The Lufthansa Group has announced that ITA Airways is now operating at Lufthansa Terminals in Frankfurt and Munich. Following ITA Airways and Lufthansa’s merger, this action of putting all the group’s carriers “under one roof” brings an elevated travel experience to travellers while increasing connectivity within the group.

A Step Forward as ITA Airways and Lufthansa’s Merger Proceeds

Following the Lufthansa Group’s acquisition of a 41% stake of ITA Airways, the Italy-based airline became a member of the Lufthansa group alongside other European airlines, including SWISS, Austrian Airlines and more. After the group announced a codeshare in late February, the act of moving the airline into the same terminals as other group members provides increased integration and a stronger connection between members in the group.

Dieter Vranckx, Chief Commercial Officer of the Group, comments highly on this merger:

“Our customers will be able to transfer faster and more comfortably thanks to shorter distances and will have more comfort throughout their entire journey. This also includes the shared use of lounges. This integration gives ITA Airways passengers access to the enormous advantages of the Lufthansa Group, with all its premium airlines and a worldwide route network.”

Increased connectivity, Elevated Travel Experience

The move means that travellers transferring between flights within the Lufthansa group will enjoy a more seamless experience. Ranging from check-in gates, service desks and baggage reclaim, this new announcement brings added convenience to travellers across all aspects of their journey. The wider integration also means that passengers travelling with other airlines in the Lufthansa group can have increased connectivity to different Italian regions, while ITA Airways customers enjoy access to lounges and other shared facilities.
