ITA and Lufthansa Partnership Elevates Air Travel

Dieter Vranckx, CEO of Lufthansa Group, stated, “ITA Airways is now an integral part of our joint passengers. With just one booking, a customer of the Lufthansa Group can use ITA Airways synchronised connecting flights with its airline’s flight numbers. Codesharing will further improve and harmonise the travel experience of all passengers at the Lufthansa Group’s hubs. The integration of ITA Airways as part of the Lufthansa Group is progressing rapidly and now enables far-reaching advantages in the offering for our joint customers through code sharing.”

This partnership will allow travellers to easily combine their flights into a single reservation. Expanding flexibility and flight options. Passengers can now reserve more than 100 additional codeshare links for flights beginning with the summer 2025 schedule. To provide a smooth travel experience, Lufthansa Group (Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, and Air Dolomiti) will now provide joint ticketing and baggage check-in services with ITA Airways.

New Route Networks and Details of the Codeshare Agreement

Starting on March 30, 2025, some ITA flights will be flown under flight numbers from all Lufthansa flights. This will feature important domestic connections to Italy from Rome-Fiumicino as well as international connections to Sofia, Athens, Malta, and Tirana. Moreover, Lufthansa passengers will get access to certain ITA destinations, including Reggio di Calabria, Pantelleria, and Alghero Sardinia.

In order to improve connection between Italy and important locations in Northern, Central, and Eastern Europe. This codeshare agreement will initially cover European services. Passengers on ITA Airways will have access to more than 250 locations throughout the vast network of the Lufthansa Group as the initiative grows.

With this partnership, ITA Airways and Lufthansa are looking to make travelling more simplified for passengers.
