Lufthansa has announced a selection of new dishes that will be served on its short—and medium-haul flights. From 26 February 2025, passengers flying business class will be treated to an overhauled menu influenced by European and local dishes.

Providing an Updated Dining Experience

Lufthansa’s passengers will soon be able to use a new ‘Pre-Select’ feature, which allows them to select their dishes for their business class flight. This will enable them to assemble their own menu from nine dishes suitable for vegetarians and non-vegetarians.

A 2-hour flight entitles passengers to select their meals from a range of cold options provided on the flight. Passengers on a flight lasting more than 3 hours can choose three hot dishes to sample, an upgrade from the previous choice of two dishes.

Lufthansa Group’s Senior Vice President of Customer Journeys, Caroline Drischel, had this to say regarding the dining experience:

“The introduction of ‘Pre-Select’ on Lufthansa’s short and medium-haul routes underlines our ongoing efforts to offer our guests a consistently high-quality and uniform travel experience. The option of pre-ordering meals is already offered on SWISS flights and is also planned for Austrian Airlines.”

Dining With Sustainability in Mind

While passengers dine in excellence in business class, the ‘Pre-Select’ option supports planning optimisation.

Chief Customer at Officer Lufthansa Airlines, Heiko Reitz, commented further:

“When developing the meals, we attached great importance to regional origin and sustainability. We made a conscious decision to use local and selected European products. Lufthansa guests can look forward to a new treat for the palate.”

Lufthansa has partnered with Johann Lafer to ensure the successful creation of these new dishes while using sustainable methods to source high-quality ingredients around Europe.
