Aeromexico has been named the most on-time global airline for 2024, according to the latest Cirium 2024 On-Time Performance Report, an aviation data company.

The rankings, part of Cirium’s annual study of the best on-time airlines and airports, evaluate airlines based on punctuality, including on-time departures, arrivals, and their ability to manage disruptions.

Aeromexico Outperforms Competitors in Global On-Time Rankings

According to the Cirium 2024 On-Time Performance Report, Aeromexico achieved an on-time rate of 86.70%, outpacing other leading airlines, ahead of Saudia (86.35%) and Delta Air Lines (83.46%).

Mike Malik, chief marketing officer at Cirium, said,

In 2024, the airline achieved an impressive 86.70% on-time rate, earning Cirium’s prestigious Global On-Time Performance (OTP) Award. This milestone comes alongside the airline’s 90th anniversary, celebrating nearly a century of contributions to Mexico’s aviation industry.

Cirium’s report also recognized operational excellence across regions. Iberia Express was named Europe’s most on-time airline and the top low-cost carrier globally. In the Asia-Pacific, Japan Airlines ranked first, followed closely by All Nippon Airways. Delta Air Lines led in North America, while Copa Airlines marked its 10th consecutive win in Latin America. FlySafair was recognized as the most on-time airline in the Middle East and Africa.

How Aeromexico Achieved Top On-Time Performance in 2024

Aeromexico’s 86.70% on-time performance (OTP) rate in 2024 is the result of its infrastructure, which includes advanced technology and efficient operational processes. The airline uses real-time data analytics and AI tools to monitor operations and manage disruptions, such as weather-related delays, helping ensure timely departures and arrivals.

Over the past year, Aeromexico expanded its fleet to 113 aircraft, with 16 more on order. With an average age of 7.1 years, the fleet is among the youngest and most fuel-efficient in the industry. Recent acquisitions, including Boeing 737 MAX 8 and 9 and 787 Dreamliners, have increased operational capacity while maintaining sustainability standards.

The airline’s advanced scheduling systems and AI tools have helped improve its ability to manage operational challenges and support its on-time performance.

Partnerships with key airports, including its hub at Mexico City Benito Juarez International Airport, have further strengthened its operational capabilities.
