Binter, the Canary Island’s carrier, has strengthened its fleet with the addition of two new Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, bringing its total to 40 planes. The new jets, named “Vigo” and “Baleares,” honor the airline’s first domestic destinations and mark a milestone in improving connectivity between the Canary Islands and mainland Spain.
The new additions are part of the airline’s ongoing expansion plans, which include acquiring four more E195-E2 aircraft. This will increase Binter’s fleet to 44 planes, comprising 28 ATRs and 16 Embraers.
Strengthening Canary Islands Connectivity
The E195-E2 aircraft will operate on routes connecting the Canary Islands to 28 direct destinations. Binter has emphasized that the fleet expansion will enhance regional connectivity by increasing flight frequencies and adding new destinations.
Binter began operating domestic flights to Vigo and the Balearic Islands in 2018. These routes marked a turning point for the airline, enabling a more robust connection between the Canary Islands and the rest of Spain while improving service standards.
Modern and Efficient Aircraft
The Embraer E195-E2 is the largest and most advanced member of the E-Jet E2 family. Configured with 132 seats in a single-class layout, the aircraft offers a seat pitch of 79 centimeters (31 inches) and features a 2+2 seating arrangement with no middle seats.
Its spacious overhead compartments can accommodate a carry-on suitcase for each passenger, doubling the capacity of conventional regional jets. The E195-E2 is also designed for reduced noise levels and improved fuel efficiency, delivering lower operational costs and a more sustainable flying experience.
Binter’s latest acquisitions reinforce its commitment to providing passengers with comfortable, efficient travel options while enhancing the Canary Islands’ role as a hub for air connectivity.
