Low-cost, long-haul airline Norse Atlantic announces the first four routes to be operated by Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The carrier’s first routes are all transatlantic flights to the U.S.

The Norway-based airline was founded in February 2021.

From Norway to the U.S

The 787s will operate flights from Oslo, Norse Atlantic’s home base, to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Orlando International, and Los Angeles International Airport. It is to be expected that more routes will be added in the coming months as the new airline continues to grow.

Norse had to delay the launch of its first flights slightly due to higher fuel prices and travel restrictions.

Norse Atlantic’s first flights will take off on 14 June, the very first being the Oslo – JFK route. The launch date will allow the airline to take full advantage of the summer travel season.

Both economy-class and premium-class tickets will be on offer, with added fees for any add-ons and changes such as priority boarding.

Last September, Norse Atlantic applied to the U.S Department of Transportation to serve Fort Lauderdale (for Greater Miami), Stewart (Greater New York City), and Ontario (Greater LA). Norse ended up opting for primary airports as opposed to these secondary ones above, aside from Fort Lauderdale of course. Flying to JFK and LAX will be more costly than choosing Stewart and Ontario but will likely prove beneficial in driving more traffic and, thus, financial gains.

However, the new Norwegian carrier will enjoy facing no direct head-to-head competition offering Norway to U.S routes from other airlines; there’s little indirect competition too. They will hope to have a more successful go at operating an ultra-low-cost airline than its predecessor Norwegian.

Flights to Fort Lauderdale will begin on 18 June, Orlando on 5 July, and Los Angeles on 9 August.
