flydubai’s latest plans bring growth to its connections in Italy, as the airline announced the launch of flights to Pisa and the resumption of operations to Catania.

Greater connectivity with Italy

flydubai, a government-owned airline, announced on 1 April the beginning of flights to the Italian city of Pisa. This move makes Flydubai the first United Arab Emirates (UAE) carrier to operate this particular route from the city of Dubai.

The carrier also announced the resumption of its route to Catania in Sicily, one of 20 regions in Italy. Now, the airline’s network in Italy has increased to three destinations, including Naples, which was already running.

The low-cost UAE carrier will start flights to Pisa International Airport and Catania International Airport on 24 June with the service running three times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The flights will operate from Terminal 3 of Dubai International.

Chief Commercial Officer Hamad Obaidalla spoke about increasing flydubai’s presence in Italy and how it has come at a perfect time as air travel starts to return to pre-COVID levels.

We look forward to the launch of flights to our third point in Italy this summer. Pisa will be a popular destination for travellers from the UAE and the GCC to discover the beauty of the Tuscany region. We have seen healthy growth in passenger numbers as more countries ease travel restrictions and demand for travel returns to pre-pandemic levels. We look forward to an exceptional summer as we continue to add more destinations to our network and increase the frequency of flights on some of our existing routes.

Jeyhun Efendi, Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, shed more information on the flights themselves:

flydubai’s new three-times weekly service to Pisa, as well as our operations to Catania and Naples, offers passengers from the UAE and the region more options for travel to Europe this summer. Our passengers from Italy will be able to enjoy convenient and direct flights to Dubai throughout the year. Our flights will be operated by our fleet of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft which feature a flatbed in Business Class and additional comfort in Economy Class.

flydubai’s choice of the Boeing 737 Max is arguably a good one for customers, who will be able to enjoy features made with added comfort in mind. Economy-class features new RECARO seats that are designed to optimise space and comfort. Business-class features a flatbed so passengers can doze off in a private space during the flight if they wish.

The flights to Pisa and Catania are available to book now on flydubai.com.
