Singapore Airlines has announced that from June, they will be reintroducing their full pre-pandemic flight schedule from London Heathrow (LHR) to Singapore’s Changi Airport (SIN).

With the implications of Covid-19 on the travel industry, Singapore Airlines currently operates only half of its pre-pandemic schedule from London. However, starting from the 2nd June 2022, Singapore Airlines will be back on track and hopes to increase it to four daily flights from Heathrow.

Loganair

General Manager of Singapore Airline’s UK and Ireland, Mohamed Rafi Mar, announced a new partnership with Loganair, he said:

“Singapore Airlines is delighted to announce its new Interline partnership with Loganair, giving our passengers greater connectivity and flexibility with their travel options.

“It also enables us to provide further opportunities for customers around the UK to experience Singapore Airlines’ multi-award-winning service, connecting in both London and Manchester all from their local airport.”

With the start of the new Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) system in Singapore, travellers can now go to Singapore without quarantining.

VTL

The Vaccinated Travel Lanes is a newly introduced system in Singapore that allows quarantine-free travel if you are fully vaccinated, I.e., received the complete regimen of WHO EUL vaccines or are under 12 years old and unvaccinated but accompanied by a fully vaccinated traveller.

Last month, SIA Group made a statement about the benefits of the new programme, they said:

“Singapore’s VTL arrangements have been a game changer for the SIA Group, facilitating quarantine-free mass travel for the first time since the pandemic began. While demand should continue to recover, especially on VTL services, passenger traffic is likely to moderate in the fourth quarter after the end of the year-end holiday season.”

Health Minister of Singapore, Ye Kung Ong, spoke about the VTL programme could be improved, he said:

“Instead of having vaccinated travel lanes with selected countries that we think are low risk, we should actually (quarantine-free) travel for vaccinated travellers or fully-vaccinated travellers, from all countries.”

Those arriving from the UK are accepted onto the VTL programme and can travel without quarantine if they are vaccinated and take a rapid antigen test within 24 hours of arrival. Will you be travelling to Singapore this year? Let us know in the comments below.
