Swiss International Airlines (SWISS) has unveiled the first Boeing 777-300ER fitted with its new Premium Economy Class. The airline is working to install the updated cabin class on all 12 SWISS Boeing 777-300ERs.

Premium Economy Class

Designed to complement the current Economy Class and Business Class, the new Premium Economy Class will provide passengers with increased privacy and comfort. Composed of 24 easily reclinable seats, SWISS‘ new class makes it the first airline in the Lufthansa Group to use ZIM Premium Economy Seats.

“Our SWISS Premium Economy Class is a top-quality standout product against our international competitors, and I am delighted that we can now offer our customers this new best-in-class air travel experience. Our Premium Economy Class should be especially appealing to travellers who have flown Economy Class to date and would like to enhance their inflight comfort and convenience. So it also helps us strengthen our premium-carrier positioning in the growing leisure travel market.” – Tamur Goudarzi Pour, Chief Commercial Officer, SWISS

In addition to upgraded seating and comfort, passengers can also enjoy a sustainable amenity kit, an upgraded 15.6-inch inflight entertainment screen, noise-reducing headphones, additional menu options, and increased baggage allowances.

The sustainable amenity kit, provided by Skysupply, makes use of kraft paper and paper pulp to reduce the use of plastics.

“We put a strong emphasis at SWISS on making the whole travel chain as sustainable as possible, because we don’t just want to be a premium carrier for our guests: we want to live up consistently to all our responsibilities to the climate and to society, too.” – Tamur Goudarzi Pour, Chief Commercial Officer, SWISS

Passengers are served a welcome drink, as well as a choice of three hot meals on board. The menu offering is newly updated specifically for the class.

Also included are two pieces of checked baggage, each up to 23 kilos. This is double the amount of baggage allowed in Economy Class.

Available on the Boeing 777-300-ER

Premium Economy Class will be featured on all SWISS Boeing 777-300-ER aircraft by the end of May. The first equipped aircraft arrived at Zurich Airport last week and will be serving the Zurich – Miami route beginning in March.

The next aircraft to be upgraded will be the aircraft serving San Francisco and the aircraft serving Sāo Paulo in April.
