Indian Carrier Vistara has signed a letter of intent for 13 A320neo, and 6 787-9’s.

Vistara has selected the CFM Leap 1-A powerplant for the A320neo family jets. These jets are due for delivery between 2019 and 2023. They have selected theĀ General Electric GEnx-1B to power the 787s, which will arrive between 2020 and 2021. These aircraft will serve medium-haul and long-haul international routes.

ā€œIndia’s position as the world’s fastest growing domestic aviation market and its impressive growth in air passenger traffic that has more than doubled over the last decade, makes us confident of our aggressive plans for domestic expansion and international foray,ā€ saysĀ chief executive Leslie Thng.

ā€œThese orders are a landmark step in Vistara’s journey and demonstrate our deep-rooted commitment to contributing to the rise of the Indian aviation industry and to offering more choices to our customers.ā€

Vistara currently operates 13 A320ceos and eight A320neos, and is scheduled to receive another A320neo in September.

In addition to these new purchases, the carrier says that it plans to lease an additional 37 A320neo family aircraft.

Vistara flies to 22 destinations currently around India. Their current fleet of A320’s have 126 economy seats, 24 premium economy, and 8 domestic business class seats. It is most likely that the new A320 aircraft will have the same or a similar seat map as below.
