The aircraft is registered as B-28035 and was issued with an urgent alert while descending at 2,800ft. It was preparing to land at Taipei Songshan airport. It was operating as flight FE8026 from  Penghu to Taipei.

The aircraft safely landed two minutes later and no injuries were reported. ASC notes that the left-hand engine suffered damage to its internal components, and punctures were found on the cowling. An investigation has been launched to find a cause for this incident.

The MD-82 was built in 1995 and was bought by FAT in September 2004. It is powered by two Pratt & Whitney JT8D-217C engines.
