Aurigny Air Services has announced it will be suspending its flights at Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) in 2027 after a decade of operating from the airport. The airline previously operated a service between Yorkshire and Guernsey; however, this will be suspended from next year. Aurigny is a Channel Islands airline that operates services from its main base in Guernsey.

Aurigny to Withdraw from Leeds Bradford Airport From 2027

After ten years of operating at LBA, Aurigny Air Services has confirmed that its service between Yorkshire and Guernsey will not continue in 2027. This news follows the easyJet announcement made in September that the airline would also be withdrawing from Leeds Bradford Airport from January 2027.

The Aurigny service previously operated twice a week between May and September and was utilised by thousands of people travelling to and from the Channel Islands.

When approached about the reason for axing the service, despite what LBA described as a summer of “excellent performance”, the airline cited aircraft availability. In a statement, an airline spokesperson said the following about the decision:

“The route has been traditionally popular with travellers from the North of England and will not be operated next year solely due to aircraft availability. Aurigny would like to place on record its thanks to the management at Leeds Bradford Airport for all the support received whilst operating to the airport.”

A statement by Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) revealed the airport’s disappointment with the decision, however:

“Aurigny is choosing to prioritise its core island flying next year and, as a result, LBA sadly drops out of its programme for summer 2027. This will be disappointing for the several thousand passengers who have used the service each year, and certainly disappointing news for Leeds Bradford Airport as we know performance this summer was excellent.”

Though people based in the North and North-West of England will no longer be able to travel from Leeds to the Channel Islands, Aurigny has highlighted that its Manchester service will continue to operate next summer, giving travellers an alternative route.

Aurigny Air Services: Here’s What You Need To Know

Aurigny Air Services is the flag carrier airline of the Bailiwick of Guernsey and has been wholly owned by the State of Guernsey since it was nationalised in 2003. Its head office is next to Guernsey Airport (GCI) in the Channel Islands.

Aurigny is the second oldest regional airline in Britain, following Loganair, and was founded in 1964. It was originally established to provide a service between Guernsey and nearby island Alderney. This route actually gave the airline its name; “Aurigny” is derived from the French name for Alderney.

Aurigny is a smaller airline that primarily operates routes to UK airports, including but not limited to Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, London, Manchester and Southampton.

The airline also serves Jersey, Ireland, France, and the Netherlands in a mix of regular and seasonal charters.

Aurigny operates ATR 72-600s on all of its services. The ATR-72 is a twin-engine turboprop airliner that typically seats 72 passengers, hence its name. As of October 2026, Aurigny had six aircraft in its fleet.
