Germany’s Nuremberg airport (NUE) has closed due to an aviation emergency, and flight operations have been suspended. Operations were suspended after an urgent mid-air emergency.
They said on its website that flights have been suspended, though the circumstances of the incident are still unclear and have not been specified yet. Local police told CNN that there is no danger and everybody on board is safe.

Airport suspensions due to the emergency
The police said that shortly after 11 a.m. local time, an emergency report was received from within the cockpit of the plane. The flight was escorted into Nuremberg airport by Eurofighter jets. The police cordoned off the airport shortly before the landing of a flight from the Greek island of Corfu.
On X, a spokesperson for the Mittelfranken police said:
“We received a report of an unclear air emergency. In the meantime, the aircraft has landed safely in Nuremberg. Investigations into the cause are currently underway.”
Police posted on X, saying:
‘The aircraft in question is a scheduled flight from Corfu, which landed in Nuremberg as planned. On-site inspections have determined that there is no danger.”
Police have now given the all-clear, with all passengers on the plane now safely disembarked. It is not currently clear if operations have returned to normal at Nuremberg Airport, but flights that were due to arrive from Amsterdam and Cluj in Romania were cancelled. Flights set to arrive from 3.pm today are all expected to arrive on time, but departures from Nuremberg show delays up to flights scheduled for 3.55 p.m.

Drone sightings at Nuremberg Airport
German newspaper Blid previously reported a possible drone sighting that had already disrupted air traffic at the airport overnight. Bavarian Police say three pilots independently reported sightings of an object they had seen during takeoff or landing, possibly a drone, during their respective takeoff and landing procedures.
The sightings occurred between 2 and 4 a.m. this morning. The Nuremberg Airport Border Police Inspectorate, along with Nuremberg Airport and German Air Traffic Control, initiated measures to detect the reported object.
Police later told CNN the incident on Tuesday was not related to any possible drone sightings.
Earlier this year, Germany expanded its aviation sector with a new strategy. A major disruption like the suspected drone sighting at Nuremberg puts pressure on aviation services to prevent incursions near commercial flight paths.
