Citizens of Oman and Russia are now able to enter and exit between the two countries without having to present a visa. This agreement was signed at a ceremony attended by Oman’s Prime Minister, Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Terms and Conditions of The Agreement

Omani citizens can enter Russia for a maximum of 30 days per visit and vice versa, with the total number of days in each country remaining below 90 days per annum.

Those planning to travel and stay for more than 30 days straight, or more than 90 days in a year will need a visa. In any case, Oman Air will continue to serve Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Alexander S. Pushkin International Airport, and Muscat International Airport, having commenced the route in autumn 2024.

Oman’s ambassador to Russia, Hamud bin Salem Al Tuwaih, provided a brief comment regarding the agreement:

“This visit will open new horizons for cooperation in economic, commercial, cultural, tourism, and educational fields.”

What This Means for the Two Countries’ Tourism Industries

Russian tourists can enjoy Oman’s impressive architecture and picturesque beaches, while the number of Omani citizens visiting Russia has increased five-fold since the introduction of an electronic visa system.

Tourism is steadily growing between both countries: in 2024, 11,000 Omani citizens visited Russia, and 44,000 Russian citizens visited Oman.
