With a remarkable on-time performance of 91.92%, Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has secured the title of Europe’s top punctual airline for March 2025, along with second place globally.
Based on Cirium, the most reliable aviation analytics source, SAS outperformed its competitors by placing behind Saudi, ahead of Aeromexico globally, and first in Europe. This success of SAS shows the airline’s ability to keep planned schedules even during Scandinavia’s hard winter, when over 2,000 de-icing events were completed in March. This is a tremendous achievement considering the harsh weather conditions and difficult circumstances.
The President and CEO of SAS, Anko van der Werff, expressed his feelings, stating,
We’re extremely proud of this achievement, which reflects the dedication and teamwork across SAS. Punctuality is a core priority, and this recognition shows how far we’ve come from overcoming challenges to leading the way. For our travellers, on-time performance means smoother journeys, less stress, and greater confidence in choosing SAS. Knowing our efforts truly make a difference drives us to keep delivering the reliable service our customers expect and deserve.
Sustainability, Reliability and Operational Efficiency
With first-place European rankings in October and August 2024, ranking third in Europe for the year, as well as a worldwide ninth-place placement, SAS’s March victory closes a year of consistent progress.
Recognising SAS’ ongoing efforts throughout time, Mike Malik, Chief Marketing Officer of Cirium, rewarded SAS with the award for 3rd place for on-time performance in Europe in 2024.
Mike Malik commented on SAS’ success,
SAS’ outstanding performance in March reflects a combination of operational excellence and robust winter preparedness. Their ability to consistently deliver on-time service, even in the most challenging conditions, underscores their commitment to reliability and efficiency. This achievement places them among the best globally, with sustained focus on both customer satisfaction and sustainability.
