Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) and Vietnam Airlines are expanding their cooperation through a wider codeshare agreement that will introduce direct flights between Copenhagen and Ho Chi Minh City. The updated partnership also adds a range of connecting destinations across both Vietnam and Scandinavia.
The announcement aligns with Vietnam Airlines’ inaugural Copenhagen–Ho Chi Minh City (CPH–SGN) service, scheduled to begin Dec. 15, 2025. The two carriers first entered into a partnership in 2024.
Speaking to Travel Radar, Paul Verhagen, SAS executive vice president and chief commercial officer said:
“This expansion marks an important milestone in our partnership with Vietnam Airlines, by adding direct connectivity between Copenhagen and Ho Chi Minh City, as well as new onward destinations across Vietnam and Scandinavia, we are offering customers more choice, flexibility, and convenience.”

Expanded Network Across Vietnam and Scandinavia
Under the new agreement, SAS customers will be able to book Vietnam Airlines’ nonstop CPH–SGN flights under the SAS code. Additional Vietnam connections will include Hanoi (HAN), Da Nang (DAD), Phu Quoc (PQC), Da Lat (DLI), and Hue (HUI).
Vietnam Airlines will place its code on SAS-operated flights beyond Copenhagen, including domestic services to Aarhus (AAR), Aalborg (AAL), and Billund (BLL), as well as intra-Scandinavian routes to Stockholm, Oslo, Gothenburg, Bergen, Stavanger, Trondheim, and Helsinki.
Frequent flyers will continue to access benefits across both airlines through SAS EuroBonus and Vietnam Airlines’ LotusMiles, including point accrual and redemption on all eligible codeshare flights.

Strengthening Copenhagen as a Regional Gateway
The partnership supports SAS’ strategy to reinforce Copenhagen Airport as its main hub for long-haul and regional operations. Enhanced connectivity through CPH is expected to improve passenger flows between Asia, Europe, and North America.
SAS has also reported strong operational performance in 2025, earning recognition as the world’s most punctual airline twice and Europe’s most punctual airline four times so far this year.
