AGS Airport group, which owns and operates Aberdeen, Glasgow and Southampton airports has designated Robert Paterson to the role of Operations Director and Aberdeen International Airport.

From baggage handler to Head of Operations to Operations Director
After being a key member at Aberdeen International Airport, serving most recently as Head of Operations where Paterson was responsible for driving operational excellence and enhancing the passenger experience for those flying.
Chief Operating Officer at AGS, Ronald Leitch praised Paterson’s effort over the years, stating:
“Robert has consistently demonstrated strong leadership and a deep understanding of the operational challenges and opportunities at Aberdeen. His appointment comes at an exciting time as we continue to invest in infrastructure and sustainability initiatives that will shape the future of the airport.”

January of 2025 saw the announcement of AviAlliance acquiring AGS Airport Group. AviAlliance is one of the world’s leading private airport operators, with plans to invest £350million over the next five years across AGS’ airports.
The investment will support growth and decarbonisation across Aberdeen International Airport, Glasgow Airport and Southampton Airport. As part of the investment, upgrades to the airfield infrastructure and energy efficiency projects at Aberdeen are now in place to ensure the airport if fully equipped to meet future demand.
Commenting on his well-earned promotion, Paterson remembered his beginnings at Aberdeen International Airport:
“I started with Aberdeen International Airport as a baggage handler in 1998 and I am delighted to take on the role of Operations Director. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a dedicated team as we focus on delivering a safe, efficient, and world-class experience for our passengers and airline partners”.
