Achieving its all-time best annual passenger numbers last year, Latvia’s pride, airBaltic, reaches an important milestone. The airline carried over eight million passengers and operated 73,000 flights. With reaching this milestone, airBaltic has announced its highest passenger numbers to date, contributing to the overall success of airBaltic Group, as well as surpassing pre-pandemic records.

The All-Time Success of airBaltic in 2024 compared to its achievements in 2023

The productivity of airBaltic in the third quarter (Q3) of 2024 surpassed all previous records. The airline reported record-breaking Q3 results. airBaltic has achieved record-breaking Q3 revenue and load factor. The revenue generated by the airBaltic Group reached €236 million, a rise of more than 7.6% from the Q3 of 2023.

The airline also reported important increases in its load factor. In aviation, load factor serves as a crucial indicator, indicating the percentage of available seating capacity that passengers utilise.

From 71.6% in December 2023, airBaltic achieved a load factor of 80.1% in the same month in 2024. This increase in load factor underscores the airline’s growing operational efficiency and increased capacity to accommodate more passengers per flight.  Displaying great demand across its network, airBaltic kept an average load factor of 80% throughout 2024.

In addition to achieving financial and operational success, airBaltic also enhanced fleet flexibility and fortified its industry alliances by securing a three-year agreement with Lufthansa Group. Aiming to maximise the expenses of its Airbus A210-300 fleet, the airline also signed an engine maintenance agreement with Pratt & Whitney. The airBaltic Group’s 2024 Q3 report confirms this.

This maintenance agreement is central to airBaltic’s expanding network.

Record-breaking month for airBaltic

According to preliminary, rounded data from airBaltic monthly reports, December 2024 was a very successful month for the airlines.  There is an increase in the number of passengers by 25% compared to December 2023. In 2024, airBaltic carried 423,000 passengers, up from 339,100 in December 2023. As number of flights increased, number of passengers also increased. The number of flights increased by 6% in comparison to 2023.

This all-time best success of the airline is a reflection of airBaltic’s adaptability and consistent expansion. AirBaltic attributes this achievement to the strategic expansion of its route network, which currently connects Riga, Tallinn, and Vilnius to more than 70 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. Travellers in the Baltic region and beyond now prefer airBaltic because of increased connectivity.
