Qantas has launched a new direct flight between Australia and Las Vegas, with a new seasonal Sydney service starting Dec.29, 2026 and running through until Mar.12, 2027.

A Milestone for Qantas’ International Network

The launch of the Las Vegas service represents the 101st destination on the airline’s international network and its eighth city across North and South America. The route joins Qantas’ existing services to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu, Dallas, New York, Vancouver and Santiago, further strengthening connectivity between Australia and the Americas. Operating three times per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, the flights will be serviced by the airline’s Boing 787-9 (Dreamliner) aircraft.

Outbound flight QF55 will depart Sydney Kingsford Smith Aiport (SYD) at 9:00pm, arriving in Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) at 3:55pm local time. The return service, QF56, will depart Las Vegas at 8:20pm and arrive in Sydney at 6:35am two days later.

Without the need for layovers elsewhere in the U.S, the new route is expected to cut journey times by up to five hours. Over the decades, Qantas has developed their reputation as a reliable airline in performance, punctuality and safety– factors that continue to underpin its long-haul growth strategy.

Timed for Major Global Events

This seasonal schedule has been strategically timed to coincide with some of Las Vegas’ biggest international events. This includes the Consumer Electronics Show, widely regarded as the world’s most influential technology showcase, as well as the growing Rugby League Las Vegas Festival- now a key fixture for Australian and international sports fans.

Las Vegas continues to attract global visitors with its world- class entertainment offerings, high profile music residences and proximity to natural landmarks such as the Grand Canyon and the wider Nevada region.

Building on Strong Demand

The new service builds on Qantas’ successful partnership with the National Rugby League (NRL), which has seen the airline operate charter flights from Australia’s East Coast to Las Vegas for the past two years, however this is the first scheduled service. Flights for this years NRL fixtures departed this week and, for the third consecutive year, have sold out- underscoring strong demand for direct access between the two destinations.

Tickets for the new route are on sale now with return fairs from Australia advertised from AU $1,099 (£579). The airline is also offering the opportunity for Qantas Frequent Flyers to earn double the points on Qantas Hotels and Holiday packages booked to Las Vegas between now and March 6. This would mean earning six points for every AU $1 (£0.53) spent.

With the inaugural flight set to take off just after Christmas 2026, the new route offers a faster and more convenient getaway to two of the worlds most dynamic cities. Travellers looking to secure a seat on this landmark route can book now via the Qantas website or through their preferred travel agent.
