As of July 30, 2026, passengers flying from Jersey Island to London’s Heathrow Airport (LHR) can now do their bag check-in one day prior to the trip. This new policy only serves travellers from British Airways on flights that will leave before 12:00 BST.

New Bag Check-in
The recently employed policy is known as “twilight bag drop” and it began serving passengers on Thursday, July 30, 2026. It operates on a daily basis from 16:30 until 20:00, with the goal of providing flyers with an improved experience.
A Jersey Airport (JER) spokesperson told the BBC that the ultimate aim of the luggage drop is to give passengers “more time to relax and focus on the start of their trip”. The head of terminal and transformation at Jersey Airport, Jamie Loudon, stressed the airport’s desire to facilitate flyers’ travel experience.
Passengers whose flights leave to Heathrow before 12:00 BST are now able to drop-off their luggage during the time window previously mentioned.

Check-in Benefits
There are a plentitude of benefits that this new service brings travellers besides comfort. Loudon also highlighted that by dropping off bags before the trip, it removes a large percentage of stress on the flight day and enables flyers to enjoy their time at the airport.
Moreover, Jersey Airport’s head of terminal disclosed that one of the service’s mission is to create an easier travel atmosphere for families and/or those who are travelling with large equipment or several bags.
Loudon explained that the service is planned to be extended to other airlines.
