Over the past month of December, 2025, various community engagement initiatives were led by the airline Korean Air and their employee volunteer groups, both in Korea and abroad, focusing on the goal of community support and infrastructure improvements.

Initiatives Throughout December

Currently, 25 employee volunteer groups engage in community engagement activities, operating initiatives at home and abroad in support of the airline’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management.

Korean Air’s community engagement initiatives started on Dec. 6, 2025, with a year-end event for elderly residents at the Holt Ilsan Center in Goyang. Led by a cabin crew volunteer group, recreational activities and performances were hosted within the nursing home, and meals and gifts were provided for the residents there.

This was not the only event meant to enrich and engage with senior residents though, as Korean Air also held a charity concert on Dec. 19. At the Deungchon Comprehensive Social Welfare Center in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, the concert was performed to senior residents by the airline’s employee choir, KE Choir. Local senior residents were also given winter supplies alongside the musical performance.

The Concluding Events For 2025

Between Dec. 19 and 26, a project in Elpitiya, Sri Lanka, was carried out by one of Korean Air’s employee volunteer groups, Yonhap Shinwoohoe. During the week, facility renovations took place at the local community centre, while the team also handed out seasonal gifts to the students in the region.

Closing off the month, on Dec. 29, a joint donation event was held at the Gangseo Fire Station and the Geon Children’s Home in Seoul. Korean Air and Asiana Airlines partnered up to deliver 350 upcycled safety keyrings and pouches, with around 150 employees volunteering to assemble and package the items. Made from repurposed retired cabin crew uniforms and in-flight tablecloths, the keyrings emit a high-decibel alarm when pulled to ensure personal safety.

With these various community engagement initiatives, Korean Air has said it will continue to expand its social contribution programmes in 2026.
