Korean Air announced an integrated mileage plan with Asiana Airlines. This plan is designed to maximise consumer benefits, which will provide a better transition for members of both loyalty programs.

The plan and its details

This integrated mileage plan includes:

  • Maintaining Asiana Airlines separately for the next 10 years, post the integration.
  • Allowing conversion to Korean Air SKYPASS miles at any time.
  • Integration of elite tiers
  • Expanded mileage usage options

This plan was submitted to the Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) by Korean Air. KFTC will conduct a two-week public consultation period before announcing a final approval.

Integration and the New Accrual

Asiana Club mileage will maintain the mileage for 10 years; at the end of this period, the remaining balances will be converted to SKYPASS miles.

Moreover, customers who have the Asiana mileage can continue to redeem the cash and miles payments and the mileage shopping.

Asiana Airlines elite members will be matched to the Korean Air equivalent. Whereas Korean Air will be expanding its program from three tiers (Million miler, Morning Calm Premium and Morning Calm and Morning Calm) to four, Morning Calm select, which will also provide Skyteam Elite Plus benefits.

In addition to this, Korean Air established two conversion rates after a consultation with the KFTC.

The ratio for flight miles, 1:1, reflects similar accrual standards for both airlines.

The 1:0.82 ratio for partner miles is based on an analysis of the respective acquisition costs.

Korean Air and Asiana Routes ( December 2024)

Type of Route Domestic International Total Major destinations

Korean Air has been serving the world for more than 55 years. Korean Air is also one of the world’s top 20 airlines. With its global hub at Incheon International Airport (ICN), the airline serves 116 cities in 39 countries on five continents with a modern fleet of 161 aircraft and 20,000 professional employees.
