Iberia, the Spanish national airline, has been ranked as the third most punctual airline in Europe and the eighth most punctual in the world, according to international aviation analytics firm Cirium’s October 2025 report.

Iberia Keeps Punctuality Promises

Iberia remains dedicated to its pledge to deliver passengers to their destinations on time and with minimal disruption. In the month of October, 83 percent of its 16,604 flights arrived on time, placing the Spanish airline third in the European rankings behind SAS and Finnair, which have previously dominated the rankings for punctuality.

Across the world, Iberia ranks eighth in punctuality, just one percent behind SAS, but ahead of carriers such as Air Canada and LATAM Airlines. The result for Iberia is a promotion within the European rankings and maintaining a place in the top ten airlines for punctuality worldwide.

This result for Iberia is one that reinforces its status as a high-performing airline, given that the airline already received the prestigious title of ‘Most Punctual European Airline’ back in March 2025, with more than 91 percent of its flights arriving at their destinations on time.

Iberia Celebrates Outstanding Performance

Ramiro Sequeira, Chief Operating Officer at Iberia, shared the following statment regarding the airline’s performance in the global rankings:

“This recognition is not simply by chance, but through the effort, coordination and the involvement of every one of us that makes up Iberia. From those who plan and prepare every flight, to the crew, the ground staff and maintenance workers: we all contribute to our flights departing and arriving on time. At Iberia, punctuality is a shared goal that reflects our promises of safety and execellency by our teams, which allows us to offer the best experience to our customers.”

Iberia is celebrating this continued punctuality following the introduction of the Airbus A321XLR aircraft to its fleet in September. On the new aircraft, Sequeira said the following in a statement to Aviation Week:

“We are very happy with the A321XLR, not only because of its performance but also because of the opportunity to open new markets. This aircraft is truly a game changer for us.”

He added that the aircraft would be vital for the launch of routes which lack the demand to justify using wide-body aircraft, as well as increasing the frequency of more popular existing routes. The airline currently has four Airbus A321XLR aircraft in its fleet, with plans to expand to eight aircraft by early 2026.
