Hanjin Group airlines (Asiana Airlines, Jin Air, Air Busan, Air Seoul and Korean Air) have announced that they will introduce Starlink high speed in-flight Wi-Fi in their entire fleets by 2026.

A new era for Hanjin Group airlines

Korean Air and other airlines will begin installation preparation and testing by the end of 2025 and earliest service introduction is expected by the third quarter of 2026. However, rollout schedules will vary by carrier.

Korean Air has merged with Asiana Airlines in 2024 and Asiana Airlines will be faced out by the end of 2026. These airlines will prioritise installation on their long-haul Boeing 777-300 ER and Airbus A350-900 aircraft.

After the full integration with Asiana Airlines is completed by the end of 2026, Korean Air plans to complete fleet wide installation by the end of 2027.

Jin Air will first equip its Boeing 737-8 fleet with Starlink, while Air Busan and Air Seoul will review their entire fleet to determine their installation priorities.

A Korean Air representative said:

“Connectivity is an essential part of the travel experience and, with Starlink, our customers will stay connected with fast and seamless internet. As Korea’s flag carrier and a global leading airline, we are committed to upgrading our services and infrastructure to deliver an elevated passenger journey as we strive to become the world’s most loved airline.”

Chad Gibbins, VP of Starlink Business Operations, SpaceX also shared,

“We’re thrilled to deliver industry leading, high-speed in-flight Wi-Fi fleet wide to Korean Air and Hanjin Group airlines and their guests. With Starlink onboard, you’ll be able to continue working proactively, stream your favourite shows, and game just as you can do on the ground.”

Starlink – a fan favourite?

Last month, Qatar Airways had announced that more than 100 of their aircraft are now Starlink equipped and British Airways had also announced a deal they signed with Starlink to provide free high speed in-flight WiFi on their aircrafts with the rollout beginning in 2026.

With Qatar Airways, British Airways and Korean Air choosing Starlink to be their internet service provider for their in-flight WiFi, it seems like other airlines around the world may follow them soon too.

Have you used the in-flight WiFi service on any of these airlines? How was your experience? Leave a comment below!
