Global Airlines, the start-up founded in 2021 pledging to revolutionise commercial flying, has announced its first passenger flight. The inaugural flight is scheduled to depart Glasgow (GLA) at 11 am on 15 May, arriving in New York (JFK) several hours later. The flight is set to take place on an Airbus A380 as the founder believes this aircraft to be a passenger favourite.

The Inaugural Flight
The first flight will be a one-off charter, with the aircraft arriving at JFK, remaining on the ground for the next four days, and returning to Scotland on the 19th May. The next flight departs Manchester shortly after for another four-day stint in New York.
The airline is yet to release purchasable tickets but individuals are able to pre-register interest for when they are released. For the time being, the airline has released a statement saying:
Onboard the cabins have all been overhauled to give a brand-new look and feel. The catering team has been busy preparing a new menu and there will be special ‘limited edition’ amenity kits in all cabins, for all passengers.
The debut flight is set to be operated using an Airbus A380, an aircraft that Global claims to be ‘the world’s most comfortable”. In fact, Global’s entire fleet consists of A380’s, with four confirmed in total although it is speculated that more may have been acquired over the last couple of years.
The pre-sale will allow people to book seats across all three classes (economy, business, and first) 24 hours before general release to the public. Those travelling in business and first class will be offered the extra luxury of booking a chauffeur service to the airport. This aligns with the airline’s goals of taking passengers back to the “Golden Age of Travel”.

Who are Global Airlines?
Global Airlines is a British startup founded in July 2021 by James Asquith, a renowned travel personality and serial entrepreneur. Asquith holds the Guinness World Record for visiting every country in the world by the age of 24. Nowadays, Asquith is in the process of building a team of aviation experts in the hope that Global Airlines is about to take off.
The 36-year-old founder said:
“I’ve sold and risked everything to be in the position I’m at. I’m putting everything on the line.”
In May 2023, Global Airlines acquired its first Airbus A380 aircraft from Doric Asset Finance, becoming the first new operator of the A380 in eight years. The airline plans to operate an all-Airbus A380 fleet, aiming to provide a luxurious flying experience.
Global Airlines has partnered with Portuguese charter airline Hi Fly for operations and cabin design. The operator specialises in providing short-term aircraft, aiding in scheduling, and has experience working with the A380.
