August 2025 is projected to see the highest number of flights from Europe to Canada on record, with 4,276 one way flights scheduled, according to Aviation analytics firm Cirium .

Canada-bound Flights Increasing
The recent surge in flights departing from Europe to Canada marks a decade-long trend, which has seen flights to Canada increase by 40 percent since August 2015. The 4,276 predicted flights bound for Canada equate to more than 1.2 million seats for single journeys to the country. Flights between Europe and Canada are also up by 5 percent from last August. Comparing this month to August 2019, there is a 14 percent increase in travel to Canada from Europe since the pre-pandemic period. Many European travellers are choosing Canada as a long-haul getaway destination; the opposite is also true, with more Canadian travellers choosing to flock to Europe this summer.
Air Canada, the country’s national airline, has played a significant role in this surge. This month, when compared to August 2024, Air Canada has added an additional 112 flights departing from Europe for Canada, which equates to more than 34,500 extra one-way seats for passengers. Its peak August schedule between Europe and Canada is 8 percent larger than last August, and this month, it will operate more than a third of all flights between Europe and Canada.

Air Canada’s new and improved August schedule for 2025 includes additional services to popular destinations such as Athens, Dublin, Madrid, Paris and Stockholm. In addition, Air Canada will offer five new transatlantic routes:
- Edinburgh to Montréal Truedeau (YUL)
- London Heathrow to Ottawa
- Naples to Montréal Trudeau
- Prague to Toronto Pearson
- Porto to Montréal Trudeau
Out of its most in-demand destinations, Athens topped the list as the fastest growing Europe-Canada route, with 63 percent more flights this month than in 2024, followed by Edinburgh at 45 percent and Madrid at 35 percent.
