Diwali – known as the Hindu Festival of Lights is amongst the most significant celebrations in India and its diverse communities worldwide. It marks the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil. In celebration of Diwali, Etihad Airways will be serving traditional Indian sweets and authentic regional cuisine on flights between India and the UAE.
Diwali Sweets on Etihad Airways Flights
Etihad offers plenty of traditional Indian treats and sweets between October 31 and November 1 in celebration of Diwali. Passengers on flights between India and major international destinations can enjoy a range of festive sweets such as Laddu, Peda, rose-scented Gulab Jamun, and Jalebi as well as other regional favourites like Kalakhand, Gujhia, and Ghewar. This Diwali offering is part of Etihad’s ongoing focus on enhancing its dining experience with dishes that evoke a sense of home.
Serving Regional Dishes Across Cabins
Marking 20 years since it began flying to India, Etihad Airlines has collaborated with local caterers across India to deliver a dining experience inspired by regional cuisine. These include local specialities from departure cities, such as Maharashtrian-inspired dishes on Mumbai flights and traditional Mughlai flavours on New Delhi routes. The community culinary approach not only supports authenticity but also showcases Etihad’s commitment to cultural diversity onboard.
The airline’s culinary collaborations include traditional recipes and locally sourced ingredients, offering passengers a true taste of home.
Turky Al Hammadi, Director of Product and Hospitality at Etihad Airways says:
Food is deeply personal and connects us to our culture and traditions.
The menu will be available on all 11 routes connecting India with the UAE, as well as flights between Abu Dhabi and the U.K. (London, Manchester), the U.S. (Boston, Chicago, New York, Washington, D.C.), Toronto, Canada, and Colombo, Sri Lanka. Passengers across Economy, Business and First Class will be able to experience the authentic flavours of India.
Supporting Local Communities During Etihad Airways’ Diwali Celebration
Through its culinary partnership with Indian cuisine providers, Etihad supports local businesses and fosters a deeper connection with the communities it serves. By integrating local recipes into its dining program, the airline aims to reflect the cultural diversity of its guests while strengthening ties with its partner cities across India.
This commitment to multi-cultural celebration extends to all corners of Etihad’s network, with the airline not only marking Diwali but also Ramadan, Eid and Thanksgiving.
With staff from over 140 nationalities and routes to 80 global destinations. Etihad honours global traditions, creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere for its passengers.
Multiple Services Across India
Etihad Airways has expanded its Indian network this year, adding new routes to Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram, and Jaipur, increasing its total Indian destinations to 11. Responding to demand, the airline will also boost flights between Abu Dhabi and Jaipur to ten per week starting December 15. The broadened network aims to create a welcoming atmosphere that brings a sense of home to passengers on every journey.
