Emirates passengers taking advantage of the airline’s partnerships with 162 global affiliates can now access nearly 1,700 additional cities. These partners are based in over 100 countries, making seamless global travel a reality for Emirates travellers.
Emirates Expansion
Emirates is already rated one of the world’s best airlines, ranking 3rd at the 2024 Skytrax World Airline Awards. The establishment of 16 new partnerships in the past year will enhance the experience of flyers even more. These new affiliations include interline agreements with KAM Air, Sri Lankan Airlines, Condor, Flynas, Viva Aerobus, Sun Express, Maldivian, Siberia Airlines and Kenya Airways, and codeshare arrangements with Avianca and Batik Air Malaysia.
A codeshare is when two or more airlines sell and market the same flight, while an interline arrangement is an agreement between airlines to handle passengers travelling on more than one flight with more than one airline.
These arrangements benefit travellers by making connecting flights smoother and eliminating the need for passengers to check in again or collect baggage at stopovers.
In addition to fostering new partnerships, Emirates’ existing relationships with United, Air Canada and Qantas continue to give customers access to more than 350 destinations across North, Central and South America, Australia, and New Zealand.
By Plane, Train and…Helicopter
Along with partnering with other airlines, Emirates has also forged collaborations with rail and helicopter companies.
Through its codeshare arrangements with Trenitalia, Spanish Rail Renfe, Austrian Rail OBB, and Swedish Rail SJ, Emirates can now offer passengers connections to several cities across Europe via train.
Emirates is also the first full-service carrier to partner with urban air mobility company Blade, allowing customers to travel between Nice and Monaco by helicopter on a single ticket.
Broadening Horizons
Along with the convenience of single-ticket travel, Emirates’ innovative partnerships are expanding the number of destinations it can offer its customers.
In the Maldives, its interline agreement with Maldivian allows travellers access to 16 islands beyond Male, while its partnership with Pro Flight Zambia gives Emirates’ passengers the chance to visit 13 unique destinations served by the African airline, including the Lower Zambezi National Park.
Adnan Kazim, Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer at Emirates Airline said:
“In the last year, we’ve doubled down on our strategy of deepening our global presence and expanding our footprint across six continents by forging new partnerships with like-minded airlines, rail partners and air mobility operators to provide a huge choice of onwards destinations, connectivity options and seamless ‘last mile’ access for travellers like never before.”
These new partnerships are reinforced by Emirates Airport Services which works closely with codeshare and interline partners to guarantee that passengers catch their connecting flights without difficulty and have access to the airline’s Dubai and outstation lounges. Emirates Skywards (the airline’s loyalty programme) and Emirates SkyCargo also work together to ensure that passengers and cargo customers take advantage of the full range of benefits available.
Emirates’ newest partnerships enable its passengers to travel to more destinations than ever, as easily as possible. With 31 codeshare, 118 interlink and 13 intermodal rail partners globally, the airline is breaking the boundaries of travel, while ensuring that convenience is still at the forefront of the Emirates experience.
