Emirates and flydubai are celebrating the milestone of five million passengers flying on their networks in the past year. This accolade highlights a 36% positive growth in joint passengers carried compared to 2024.

A successful partnership

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Group and Chairman of flydubai, said:

The Emirates and flydubai partnership has been a gamechanger for both carriers. It is a testament to collaborative excellence that has delivered more flight options and a better experience for travellers, underpinned by a vast network that connects every corner of the globe. I’m immensely proud of what has been achieved so far, and look forward to the next phase of growth and impact that both Emirates and flydubai will have on enhancing Dubai’s connectivity and shaping the future of air travel across regions.

Emirates and flydubai have achieved a number of milestones since they first aligned. Since 2017, the partnership has delivered a variety of benefits to more than 22 million customers. For example, the combination of the two carriers has crafted a robust schedule that offers convenient choice and convenience.

The alliance started out with only 29 city connections in 2017. Today, the joint network has expanded to 240 destinations in over 100 countries. Emirates are also proud about their on-ground experiences, including check-in processes, efficient baggage transfers, and optimised flight schedules.

Both carriers have seen a rise in demand for its premium cabins, which has grown by 31% this year. Finally, Emirates and flydubai’s loyalty programme, Emirates Skywards, has reached 35 million members worldwide.

About flydubai

From its home in Dubai, flydubai has created a network of over 130 destinations with a fleet of 89 aircraft. Since commencing operations in 2009, flydubai has marked a number of milestones:

The carrier recalls its expanding network. It created a network of over 130 destinations in 55 countries across every continent. On the topic, the airline has opened 95 routes that did not have previous links to Dubai or were not served by an UAE carrier. Overall, flydubai has found success in serving new markets to its passengers, which has reached a number of 120 million travellers since 2009.

flydubai also maintains a single fleet-type. It operates a fleet of 89 Boeing 737 aircraft. This includes twenty-nine Next-Generation Boeing 737-800, fifty-seven Boeing 737 MAX 8, and three Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft.

Overall, Emirates and flydubai’s latest milestone represents more than seven years of coordination and a shared goal between the two carriers. As well as that, it supports Dubai’s vision in becoming a major economic hub. To achieve this, Emirates and flydubai are ready to make Dubai one of the most connected cities in the world by adding 400 destinations to its foreign trade and tourism map in the following years.
