Embraer C-390 Millennium: Next-Generation Airlift for Austria

The C-390 Millennium is a new generation medium lift aircraft, which will enhance the Austrian Air Force operational capability. It has a gross payload capacity of 26 tons, a cruising speed of 470 knots, and advanced avionics, making it among the most potent in its class.

Bosco da Costa Junior, President and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security shared :

We’re thrilled to start production of the first aircraft for Austria and look forward to its delivery.

Later, he added:

The C-390 sets new standards for medium airlift aircraft, offering cutting-edge technology, reliability, and low operational costs with unmatched performance.

A Versatile Military and Humanitarian Aircraft

The C-390 Millennium  designed  for multi-mission operations and is capable of performing a wide spectrum of military and civilian tasks. These missions include cargo and troop transport : peacekeeping, medical evacuation, fire fighting, air-to-air refuelling and disaster relief. The aircraft is well suited for extreme conditions :  such as unpaved runways, because of its robust landing gear and a rear ramp cargo.

However, aspects of performance are further refined in the air-to-air refuelling version of the KC-390. It  can operate as a tanker and a receiver simultaneously. Fuel can be transferred between KC-390 aircraft fitted with underwing pods.

It started operating with the Brazilian Air Force in 2019, the C-390 Millennium was highly reliable, totalling more than 16,300 flight hours. Its mission capability rate is 93% and its mission achievement rate is above 99%. Then Portugal’s and Hungary’s air forces ordered the plane.

The fact that Austrian Air has chosen the next-generation transport  proves that more countries require the aircraft since it is affordable and performs efficiently for the militaries of the present time. The global champion in aerospace technology  continues to grow in the defence market with sophisticated aircraft and complete service support.
