Embraer and Adani Group have signed an agreement over E175s for Indian production as part of improving regional industrial ecosystems. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the companies is to establish an assembly line within India as part of the country’s Regional Transport Aircraft (RTA) Program.

The Regional Production

The exchange happened between Francisco Gomes Neto, president and CEO of Embraer, and Jeet Adani, witnessed by the President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and by Piyush Goyal, India’s Minister of Commerce & Industry. Initially signed in the month of January 2026, the MoU between Embraer and the Adani Group is to not only boost E175 production but also regional connectivity by establishing a Final Assembly Line (FAL) in India with an estimated target fulfilment of 500 aircraft over the next 20 years. The E175s are manufactured as narrow body twin engine aircraft designed to carry up to 88 passengers, and is designed for the use of short, regional flights, enabling them to improve regional connectivity.

What is Adani Defence & Aerospace?

It is a private company which serves as the flagship defence and aerospace enterprise of the Indian conglomerate, the Adani Group.  It mostly specialises in the focus on aircraft services and maintenance (MRO), unmanned aerial systems (UAVs), munitions, in addition to aerospace structures and avionics across air, land and sea. In a statement by Mr. Adani, he stressed the importance of connectivity within India‘s Regional Transport Aircraft program.

“Regional aviation is one of the pillars of economic expansion. With initiatives such as the UDAN program expanding air connectivity in medium and small cities, it is essential to strengthen regional aviation in the country…”

This was further echoed by a statement from Embraer’s CEO, Mr. Gomes Neto, extending to the aircraft’s capabilities:

“The E175 has a recognized track record of operating on high-frequency regional routes in several markets, and India is one of the main countries in expansion in this segment…”

Embraer currently has 50 aircraft in the defence and aerospace aviation in India with 11 types already in operation.
