Mayo County Council has given EirTrade Aviation, a global aviation asset management and trading company in Dublin and Knock, the planning permission needed to broaden its facility at Ireland West Airport Knock (NOC). This will increase the facility’s size by five times and allow a variety of integrated services at one location. The company received permission on March 12, with changes beginning towards the end of 2026.
The current facility in NOC lies at 2,100 sq m, but with the new planning permission, they are looking to expand to 10,500 sq m, with plans to enlarge their capacity in maintenance and disassembly services. They are set to have an aircraft hangar, engine and airframe dismantling and European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Part 145 Line Maintenance, alongside Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) operations.
Other features included in the new facility plans are a variety of storage options, Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) racking that is high-bay and an area for crating and working.
Senior vice president of maintenance and disassembly at EirTrade Aviation Steven Trowell said:
“This modern, functional space will consolidate our streamlined and comprehensive service provision at Ireland West Airport. The expansion of our facility to increase performance capacity is a testament to our commitment to deliver high-quality support to operators, owners, and lessors worldwide.”
O’Neill O’Malley Architecture and Project Management will be the firm managing these developments for EirTrade, with the operations director, Tom Bond, describing it as “a significant project milestone”.
The new facility will take into account all these factors in its creation, from the operational side to airside and runway regulations. Some of the plans include environmentally friendly options, like solar panels.
