Cathay Cargo’s ATW Recognition

The ATW’s award recognised the Hong Kong-based cargo carrier in its commitment to delivering a customer-based air cargo services as well as its investment in technology and sustainability initiatives.

Cathay Director Cargo Dominic Perret said:

“Being named Cargo Operator of the Year for the fourth time since 2023 is a meaningful recognition of the commitment, expertise and can-do spirit across Cathay Cargo. I would like to thank every member of our team for bringing our ‘We Know How’ brand promise to life every day, and our customers and partners for their continued trust and support.

“As the world’s number one cargo operator at the world’s busiest cargo airport, we remain committed to continuing to grow our business and reinforcing Hong Kong’s status as a world-leading international aviation hub. We are investing in our fleet, digital capabilities and network to create more choice, control and connectivity for our customers.”

The Cathay Group has committed around HK$150 billion in investments, which has gone into its fleet expansion, cabin upgrades and lounge redesigns, and digital innovation. This includes orders for eight new-generation Airbus A350F freighter aircraft that will expand and upgrade Cathay Cargo’s existing freighter fleet of 20 Boeing 747Fs.

Air Hong Kong, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Cathay Group, has also signed a lease agreement for an Airbus A330 converted freighter, which will operate primarily on freighter services to the Chinese Mainland and other regional destinations on behalf of Cathay Cargo.

Cathay Cargo’s Digital Innovation and Sustainability Goals

Cathay Cargo also invests in digital innovation to enhance the customer experience, which includes the development of the Cathay Cargo Digital Hub that brings together booking, shipment management and tracking capabilities on a single platform. The launch of tools such as Manage Booking further provides customers with greater visibility, flexibility and control throughout the shipment journey.

Sustainability also remains a key focus for Cathay Cargo. Through Cathay’s Corporate Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Programme, Cathay Cargo collaborates with freight forwarders and cargo customers to accelerate the adoption of SAF within its global network while supporting the aviation industry’s transition towards lower-emission operations.

In 2025, the programme as a whole utilised 17,400 tonnes of SAF, reducing lifecycle carbon emissions by 54,600 tonnes of CO2e with the support of 17 global partners.
