British Airways Announce Transatlantic Expansion

The launch of the new direct service departing from London will mark a significant expansion with British Airways as the only U.K airline to fly directly to St. Louis – the home to 630ft. monumental arch which commemorates ‘The Gateway to the West’. This destination provides rich cultural exploration and sightseeing for passengers.

Becoming the 27th addition to the flag carrier’s U.S routes, customers will have access to even more such as the Atlantic Joint Business partnership with American Airlines, Iberia, Finnair, Aer Lingus and LEVEL.

These benefits provide accessibility to competitive fares across Europe and South America, meaning passengers can have more for less.

Flights will depart from London Heathrow commencing April 19, 2026 to coincide with the 100th anniversary of Route 66 – the famous highway which leads from Chicago through St. Louis to its destination of Los Angeles.

“St. Louis is a fantastic addition to our US network – it’s a destination in itself as a city with a rich history and a vibrant cultural scene, as well as a gateway to exciting destinations beyond this. As the only direct route from the UK, this service will open up exciting new opportunities for our customers and further strengthen ties between the UK and the US Midwest,” says British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer, Neil Chernoff.
