Biman Bangladesh Airlines orders new Boeing aircraft to expand and modernise its fleet. This order is the carrier’s biggest-ever order, for 14 aircraft, with deliveries beginning in 2031.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines
Biman Bangladesh Airlines is the state-owned flag carrier. It was founded on Jan. 4, 1972, and operates as a public limited company, primarily based at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC).

New Boeing Aircraft
On April 30, 2026, the airline officially signed a $3.7 billion deal with Boeing for 14 new aircraft.
The new aircraft are:
- Eight B787-10 – will be used to serve high-demand routes to the Middle East.
- Four B737-8s – will connect Bangladesh with destinations across the Middle East, India, and Southeast Asia.
- Two B787-9 – will support long-haul services to Europe and North America.
These add to the carrier’s fleet of: four B737-800s, four B777-300ERs, four B787-8s, two B787-9s, and five DHC-8-Q400s. They are intended for high-demand routes to the Middle East and will eventually replace the older Boeing 777-300ERs.
The first of these new aircraft is expected to arrive in November 2031, with the full order completed by October 2035. While Biman had previously explored a deal for up to 10 Airbus A350 aircraft in 2023, the airline ultimately decided to stick with an all-Boeing jet fleet to maintain operational continuity in pilot training and maintenance.
