Aurigny has announced a significant reduction in its inter-island flight fares, cutting the price of travel between Guernsey and Jersey to under £50 one-way. The move comes just days after the States-owned airline revealed its return to the vital route following the collapse of Blue Islands, which previously operated the service.

A Strategic Shift to Boost Connectivity
Aurigny‘s new pricing, effective Jan. 19, reduces one-way fares to £49.99, bringing the cost of a return journey down to £99.98 and marking a substantial shift in affordability for island residents and visitors alike.
The airline had initially announced two daily return flights priced from £69.99 one-way, but quickly revised its strategy after reviewing demand. The airline now hopes lower fares will encourage greater use of the route, which it considers a critical lifeline between the islands.
Passenger numbers on the Guernsey–Jersey route have yet to recover to pre-pandemic levels. In 2019, the route carried 115,000 passengers, compared with just 64,000 in 2025. Aurigny believes more accessible pricing could help reverse that decline.
Philip Saunders, Aurigny’s Chief Commercial Officer, said the airline operates with a broader responsibility than profit-driven carriers, prioritising the long-term needs of island communities.

Up to 45% Savings for Island Travellers
When the route was operated by a commercially focused airline, typical return fares were often around £180. Aurigny’s revised pricing now offers savings of up to 45%, making air travel between the islands more accessible for families, businesses and essential travel.
As a publicly owned airline, Aurigny says its goal is to optimise responsibly towards breakeven, while ensuring fares remain as affordable as possible. The airline argues that evidence consistently shows lower fares and stronger connectivity when it operates key regional routes.

Supporting Tourism and Multi-Island Holidays
Aurigny hopes the new fare structure will also reignite interest in multi-centre Channel Island holidays, encouraging visitors to explore both Guernsey and Jersey. The airline is working closely with ports, tourism bodies and the hospitality sector to promote the route and stimulate demand.
The newly introduced “Light” fare includes one of the largest complimentary cabin baggage allowances among regional airlines in the British Isles, appealing to both business travellers and short-break tourists. A limited-time offer running until Jan. 23 further reduces the return fare to £89.98.
