The Spanish carrier Air Europa is spreading its wings with a new connection to the Turkish capital. The airline is expanding its international network in the spring. Commencing May 12, a new route will be connecting Madrid to Istanbul Airport. Serviced by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, the connection complements Air Europa’s international expansion ambitions.
Flight Details and Schedule
While the new service will initially operate four times per week, the schedule is set to increase to a daily offering of flights from July 7. Air Europa is deploying its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft on this route, offering passengers a comfortable and modern travel experience. The flight schedule is providing both Madrid and Istanbul-based customers with convenient connection times. UX1683 departs Madrid at 09:10, arriving in Istanbul at 13:55. Meanwhile, UX1684 is scheduled to depart Istanbul at 15:40 with an arrival time of 18:50 in Madrid.
Expansion and Market Impact
The introduction of this route makes Air Europa the second Spanish airline to offer non-stop flights to Istanbul. Competing with Barcelona-based, low-budget carrier, Vueling, Air Europa will increase its capacity on this route from July 7, offering daily services. Air Europa’s entry into the Madrid-Istanbul route will introduce a new competitor to the market currently dominated by Turkish carriers, Turkish Airlines and Pegasus. The new route comes as Air Europa continues its international expansion plan. As part of the plan, the airline is expecting to reach more destinations and increase its overall seating offering. The move promises to open up new possibilities for passengers, boosting tourism and business travel between Spain and Turkey.
